Meet the Clinicians

Melissa Wheeler, MSSA, LISW-S

I really enjoy helping people reach their inner potential and find their strength.  Every person has all that they need right inside themselves.  I am here to help teach them tools and skills to tap into their own strength and knowledge.  I specialize in working with adolescents and adults with self-harming behaviors, depression, anxiety and trauma.  I also work with couples and families to build positive communication and understanding.  I use a Strengths-Based Approach utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy among other evidence-based approaches to tailor an individualized treatment plan for each person based on their specific needs.

I received my Master’s degree (MSSA) from Case Western Reserve University and am a licensed Independent Social Worker. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your treatment goals.

Athena Vuylsteke M.Ed., LPCC

One of the greatest privileges in my life has been the opportunity to bear witness to the growth and healing of the people I work with. I believe in fostering a non-judgmental space for people to be their most authentic selves. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them reach the goals they set for themselves. I believe that we all have unique strengths that can be used positively for inner change. I practice meeting people where they are and using many different techniques to help each person reach their goals. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also work with couples to help them navigate through the difficulties they face and learn to communicate more effectively.

I received my Master’s degree from Kent State University and am a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of Ohio. I have lived in Ohio most of my life and value all of the different communities we have here.
